PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

PATAGONIA

Reno, NV

Pro Team | 2020 — Present

Providing customer service and account management for all Patagonia Pro account customers.

Customer Experience | 2019 — 2020

Answering the phone at 1-800-638-6464, and chatting with our customers at patagonia.com. It was pleasure building relationships with our customers, helping them navigate their way through big orders, finding the gear they needed for their next adventure around the globe. It was particularly rewarding to help our customers repair or recycle items that had seen a life well worn.

Field Testing | 2014 — Present

As a field tester, I am responsible for providing timely, detailed feedback on a wide variety of test pieces and prototypes. Once a test window has closed, I will upload and submit my field testing reports, photographs, and notes to Patagonia’s Field Testing Forum. These reports are then shared with the designers and product development teams in Ventura, California for further consideration and evaluation. This is a non-paid position. Compensation has included free product and generous online discounts in exchange for my time, feedback, and reports.

WAVE RAVE SNOWBOARD SHOP

Mammoth Lakes, CA

1999 — 2000 and 2013 — 2018

I’ve had the opportunity to work across a variety of positions during my time at Wave Rave Snowboard Shop. My job duties included working the front registers, providing customer service, handling returns, working on the sales floor, tagging and restocking of product, helping process and back stock large seasonal shipments, and building lasting relationships with our customers. In 2014, I became a snowboard tech. I became familiar with the operation and maintenance of various Grind Rite, and Wintersteiger® base grinding and edging machines. Keeping our customer's equipment on the snow and out of the dumpster was a passion of mine.

In April of 2016, I managed a board demo day with our friends from Gentemstick, Japan. I have helped with the annual transition of the store between the summer and winter seasons. I was trusted to drive the shop van, and bring inventory to and from our storage unit. Other times, I was called upon to help prepare the shop for the upcoming winter season, snowboard movie premiers, live music events and industry parties. I completed Wave Rave’s annual sales training courses and product clinics. I was invited to participate in the annual industry on-snow demo’s, along with many team building backcountry missions across the High Sierra. I helped provide content (on both sides of the camera) for the shop’s social media accounts. Most of all, I enjoyed cultivating lifelong friendships and relationships with our team, our amazing customers, and our industry reps.

FREELANCE CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Los Angeles & Orange County, CA 2011 — 2013

I started off my career in advertising as a Designer / Art Director. Somewhere along the way, I started to find my voice as a Copywriter. Towards the end of my career, I was able to combine these skills and was promoted to Creative Director. While in this position, I was in direct contact with our clients, and responsible for shepherding marketing campaigns from their inception to their launch into the world. All while managing and mentoring junior creative teams. Over the course of my time in advertising, I had the pleasure of working for, and collaborating with, some of the most talented and creative minds in the advertising industry. I’ve had a hand in making everything from humourous little hang tags, to award-winning Super Bowl commercials.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Advertising Design Program

Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA

When I returned to Los Angeles for work in 2006, the Department Chairman of the Advertising Design Program, reached out to see if I would be interested in mentoring a few students. Within a few months, I became an Adjunct Professor and taught classes for almost five years. It was a great experience helping young men and women prepare for their careers in the advertising and design industry. I’m proud to say many of the students I mentored, have gone on to have brilliant careers in the field. I remain close to several of my former students to this day.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Snowboard Instructor | Mammoth Mountain

I worked out of the Sports School at Main Lodge. By the halfway point of the 1999 - 2000 winter season, I was one of the top ten most requested instructors for private lessons at the mountain.

I had the privilege of witnessing thousands of students “first time doing _____” on a snowboard.

It was a privilege being paid to share a life long passion with folks on the slopes of Mammoth. During my time in Sports School, I studied, trained and completed my AASI Level 1

Snowboard Instructors Exam at June Mountain in February of 2000.

PASSIONS AND LIFELONG PURSUITS

Spending time outdoors during all four seasons with family and friends. Snowboarding, backcountry snowboarding, exploring and riding in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Fostering a sense of stewardship for our planet and a deep love of wild places in our two young children.
